Old Newton Cup preview

Opinion trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Kieron Fallon will be a warm favourite to land Haydock’s Old Newton Cup at 3.30 this afternoon.

However it would be wise to pay close attention to any Luca Cumani runner given his record in this event and Franciscan ridden by Silvestre De Souza has got to be worth an interest.

A lively outsider isHaylaman trained by David Simcock and ridden by Martin Lane. This represents a step up in class but he has shaped as though this trip will be ideal.

Similarly Beaumonts Party could reward each way backers. He has been in cracking form for Brian Ellison and connections seem unperturbed by his defeat at Royal Ascot and he once again will be ridden by Dale Swift.

Franciscan 1pt Winn @ 7/1
Haylaman 1 pt E/W @ 15/1
Beaumonts Party 1 pt E/W 20/1

Prices quoted are available at William Hills at time of posting.
