Cheltenham Showcase Day 1 Preview

Present View has a pipe opener in the first race of the season at Cheltenham in preparation for a tilt at  the Paddy Power next month. His experience might still see him win despite this been a prep race for bigger things.

Court Minstrel won well on his chasing debut but Thomas Crapper makes his debut over fences here (and is proven over the course), as does Une Ace who is on many people’s to follow lists.

The 3.15 3 mile handicap hurdle looks very competitive. Return Spring is a a tentative each way selection.

In the 3 miles novice chase Highland Retreat will be a,warm order to make a winning debut over fences. However the in form Rebecca Curtis runs The Romford Pele (NB) who can make his experience count.

Ballybolley is the selection in the 2 miles maiden hurdle despite disappointing on his hurdling debut at Perth.

Gordon Elliott’s Balbrigan is fancied to win the Amateur Riders chase although Young Master from the in form Mulholland stable should go close.

Vibrato Valtat (Nap) looks to have been found an ideal opportunity in the last race. He is expected to compete in some of the top handicaps this season so will need to win this if that plan is to come to fruition. Poetic Verse could be well handicapped however.
