Confusion reigns ahead of Festival

A string of declared absentees of late including More of That, Champagne West and Dynaste have added further confusion to the Cheltenham Festival picture.

Add in to the mix the unconvincing returns of Sprinter Sacre, Sire De Grugy and lack of recent form by Annie Power, Bobs Worth and Beat That leave lots of guess work as to whether they will be back to their best.

Willie Mullins plans for his stars are not entirely clear either making ante post markets a mine field.

A clear picture in a punters mind of the pecking order of the big races is no guarantee to a profitable festival but the nightmare prospect of last minute flipping from what would be a winning selection to a loser seems all the more likely as things stand.

Claims that this will be a sub standard festival as a result are somewhat premature but there’s no doubt that the key races are harder to call than ever.

Or is it just me who is finding this years build up as clear as mud?
