Cheltenham Festival – Day 2 preview
The feature race the Champion Chase sees future winners Sire De Grugy and Sprinter Sacre bid to prove they are back their best. Of the two Sire has the fewer question marks. However it what looks a very open renewal Champagne Fever is preferred. Good ground horse Simply Ned could run into a place.
Nichols Canyon was impressive last time and though is no Faugheen he looks the pick in the opener. Warrantor could run into a place in what doesn’t look the strongest Neptune.
Don Poli looks to have a solid chance but my main bet will be The Young Master to follow his trainers success with The Druids Nephew.
Baradari and Daneking represent my 50 to follow but Goodwood Mirage looks to have a valuable handicap in him. Lac Fontana is one for multiples.
Any Currency would be a popular winner after being pipped on the line last year in this Cross Country race. However the winners stablemate Duke of Lucca may thwart him once again.
A wide open Fred Winter as usual and I will stick with 2 I know in Zarib and Golden Doyen for a an each way interest. Sebastian Beach looks handily weighted.
The bumper is equally difficult to call with any confidence but my 50 to follow horse Supasundae is worth keeping faith with for his new stable. General Principle looks very useful and should be there or thereabouts.
