Cue Card‘s renaissance has been one of the highlights of the season so far and he can finally clinch the King George having looked the winner 2 years ago only to fold when his subsequently diagnosed ailment surfaced.

His victories in the Charlie Hall and Betfair chase were mightily impressive. Whilst Vautour’s JLT win was breathtaking he may be vulnerable to his more experienced rival on this right hand track. Don Cossack is probably a  safer bet to chase home Cue Card, whilst twice winner Silviniaco Conti finds himself fifth favourite such is the quality of the field.

The Kauto Star Novice chase is a fascinating race where I’m torn between Southfield Royale and As De Mee and will split my stakes.

The Lincolnshire National looks ready made for Sue Smiths progressive stayer Not To Bother Boy whilst Top Gamble has the class to take the Rowland Merrick at Wetherby if staying the trip.

Malcolm Jefferson gave Storm Forecast (3.30 Sedgefield) as his Christmas banker and that’s good enough for me.
