My lucky Seven for Cheltenham

Here are my hopefully lucky 7 for this week’s Cheltenham festival.

Cue Card

Winner of the Charlie Hall, Betfair and King George he is the one to beat in the Gold Cup for me. The way he galloped to the line up the hill at Wetherby suggests he will relish the Gold Cup distance. Don Poli was my ante post bet back last March and will be the main danger.

Fast improving novice chaser for Warren Greatrex who jumped well when impressive over fences last time and should go well in his chosen handicap.

No More Heroes

Unlucky at last year’s festival he has been mighty impressive since switching to fences and looks a rock solid bet in the RSA.

Shantou Village

Beaten by the highly rated Yanworth last time but Neil Mulhollands star will take a lot of beating in the Albert Bartlett.

Southfield Royale

Another from the Mulholland stable. Out and out staying novice chaser. The 4 Mile chase looks made for him.

Josie Orders

Enda Bolgers charge has won over the Cross Country course already and looks the proverbial banker.

Has had a fairly busy season but relishes this course and is my pick go tbd Bumper.

And don’t forget these two both of which look value each way bets –

Cole Harden

On forecast better ground will defend his World Hurdle crown with his trademark catch me if you can resolution. It’s just possible they won’t catch him.

The New One

On record as saying he needed further than 2 miles but as the Champion hurdle field has cut up he has got to be a rock solid each way punt for connections who remain infectiously bullish about his chances.
