You’re Fired to get the flat off to a bang in the Lincoln

Yorkshire trained You’re Fired is my  main hope in the Lincoln at Doncaster to get my flat season off to the best possible start as did Gabrial in this event 12 months ago.

Birdman is my saver albeit he appears to be David O’Mearas second string.

Over the jumps Morning Reggie, Duke Street and Benvolio are my picks at Newbury. Dormello Mo looks to have a decent chance in the Kelso novice chase and Zephyros Bleu is my nap at Uttoxeter, where Sue Smith could have a double with Special Wells and Good Vibrations

Drop Out Joe can go one better in Grimthorpe

Charlie Longsden’s Drop Out Joe second last year in the Grimthorpe can go one better tomorrow at Doncaster. Winner at Chepstow and The Badgers Ales at Wincanton is a bold jumper and still improving.

Lake View Lad can take the Premier hurdle at Kelso in what is as good a novice hurdle as will be seen outside of the festival’s. After initial jumping mishaps he has looked mighty impressive not least last time at Wetherby.

Same Difference should be better for his pipe opener and can win tbd Veterans Chase at Newbury from Peat The Feat.

Wakanda will give his all

The Sue Smith trained Wakanda is a firm favourite of mine. Not only has he earned me a few bob but he’s also captured my heart with his guts and tenacity. He will need all of that and more at Cheltenham tomorrow against the like’s of Djakadam. But with Saturday big race winner Danny Cook looking to maintain his 100% record on him he must be worth an each way punt at 14/1 (Hills)

Champagne West chased home smart stzblemate Village Vic last time and should go one better in the 2.25.

Viva Steve ran a cracker at Kempton last time and will go close in the 1.15 if handling a left hand track.

Shantou Village is smart and will take a huge step towards Festival glory if winning the 3.00.

At Doncaster Le Reve is worth perservering with in the Sky Bet chase at 3.15 if he can cope going clockwise . Court By Surprise is worth an each way interest too.

Fox Norton is well regarded and may be up to winning the £35k novice chase at 1.00.

Straidnahanna can continue Sue Smith’s Saturday success

Straidnahanna can continue Sue Smith’s Saturday succeses by winning the stayers handicap chase at Doncaster under the equally buoyant Danny Cook. He was travelling like the winner when falling 3 out at Haydock last time and can make amends here.

The feature handicap chase at Cheltenham looks another decent opportunity for Annacotty following his Paddy Power win last month particularly with Irish Cavalier an absentee. Bitwise will have plenty of support but Champagne West is a favourite of mine and should go close if fit after a long lay off through injury.

imageBlue Buttons returns to hurdling having won a listed mares race at Wetherby in October and has an each way chance in the last at Cheltenham.

In the opener Brendan Powell gets the ride on Next Sensation (e/w) where Keel Haul looks a solid bet.

Holly Bush Henry should outclass his rivals in the opener at Doncaster where Southfield Royale (below) can follow up his impressive Wetherby success.

Regulation can reward each way interest in the last.

Today’s selections :

Newbury, Musselburgh and Doncaster

Value At Risk got no further than the second fence yesterday. Hopefully Wait For Me will have better luck for my 50 to follow.

3 decent cards this Friday. Here are 5 selections of which Voix D’Eau is the NAP –

Billy No Name stayed on resolutely at Wetherby 4 weeks ago and Top Gamble can pick up from last season after a lack lustre run at Chepstow. Here are 4 with each way chances –

Gabrial and Robert are my Lincoln fancies

With pretty tame fare at Stratford and Uttoxeter although there are some interesting bumper runners I turn somewhat reluctantly to the flat tomorrow and the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster.

Gabrial for Richard Fahey is a horse I have had some success with and he is sure to be fit to run his race.

Robert The Painter was one of my selections last year and finished third. He has shown little at Meydan but his worth an each way interest at 33/1.

Whilst at Meydan the improving Dark Emerald is worth a small punt to pull off a famous win for Brendan Powell

Other picks at Doncaster are –

2.00 Baltic Knight

2.35 Dinkum Diamond

3.10 Yourartisonfire

4.50 Chilly Miss

John Blance Racing

Jumped slowly in rear: a meander through the world of the staying handicap chase.
